2009 4Winns H180 with Volvo Penta 4.3GL. Have excessive play in Teleflex Tilt Rotary Steering Wheel Hub.
Had actuator professionally rebuilt to resolve leaking cylinder. System tight from actuator to steering helm.
Hub is a sealed unit so not sure if hub damaged &/or cable is damaged ?
Is there a test to determine this or does safety caution suggest both be replaced?
Can’t find cable size on exposed cable areas but can a length be properly determined without removal.
Thank you Harry

Make sure the nut holding the steering cable in the helm is tight.

Had a Sea Star hydraulic steering kit in my shopping cart. Ran out to the boat to get a last minute measurement to order the hoses.

By chance, found the cable nut had backed off a 1/4 turn. Put a wrench on it, problem gone.

Guessing it backed off from all the vibration over the years

Thank you; Checked that but still play in Steering Wheel. Cable may have been stretched & or teeth in hub assembly damaged. Will probably start with new cable.
Cheers

How much play are you talking about?

Even new, your looking at 10 degrees or so in slop
