Long story short. I've got an early 90's 4.3 Mercruiser coupled to a Alpha 1 (I'll post numbers when I pull them tonight) that the steering is messed up on. The wheel turns but the out drive doesn't. The out drive seemed to be froze in place. I pulled the clevis pin connecting the steering cable to the out drive/power steering unit. The out drive now moves freely. It seems to me the repair it's just a matter of replacing the rack and pinion/steering cable. Does that seem correct??
