I wish I had some pics, maybe later so here goes.
Lowe 16' aluminum boat, 40 hp Johnson.
Originally, the motor was manual tilt directly on the transom.
Someone added a CMC T&T unit which moved the tilt pivot tube for the cable end from inside the transom to the outside. Instead of purchasing a new cable of the proper length (maybe 6 inches longer) they used a much longer cable and put a loop in it that looped over then outside of the transom. Naturally it frayed and broke at the sharp bends of the loop. Looks like I'll need to get the right length and drill an angled hole through the transom for the cable so it will align with the tilt pivot tube and connect up. The original was routed under the gunwhale with a gentle level turn to the pivot tube ... perfect.
Now it needs to come out of the gunwhale, go up and over the transom throughout the turn, then go back down to line up with the tube. I don't see any other way than to bore a big hole and install sealing boots of sorts.
Any other options, hints, tips or trick very much welcomed.
Thanks
