I saw an idea I thought was very interesting, these blocks bolt to the stearn and are supposed to give about 200 lbs of postive bouyancy to the boat. My question is this: I have a 14' boat with a 10hp johnson seahorse, with me my dog and duckhunting gear it will get up on plane just barely. Would the extra bouyancy at the stearn help this some?

Only if they are mounted low enough on the transom to actually extend the planing surface of the hull.

Duckenator, maybe give one of those hydrofoils ( DoelFin, Stingray, etc) a try. Your rig sounds like a perfect candidate for one.

What Fouled Plug said. They work great and are cheap. I doubt the foam bocks wlll do much for you. You may also want to move wieght forward as much as much as you can.

I took the hydrofoil advice and bought the Doelfins. I'll give it a try saturday morning. I still may give the blocks a try, if anything it'll make getting the dog into the boat easier.
