Hi,I have a mercury 80hp 800 thunderbolt ignition serial #3427406 the wiring from the stator to the rectifier is crumbling and falling apart is there any way to rewire the stator or do I have to buy another stator and if so where can i get a good used one,is there anybody out there with a junk motor with this part on it still?Thanks in advance.

Hey bud I am working on this right now. How is the magnet coil wire around the armature? If it is fine you can solder some fresh lead wire to it.

I rewired mine on a 1975, 850 had to get the insulation out of the round place where the wires come out. I

I rewired my 1975 ,850 had to get the insulation out of the round place were the wires come out, I had 2 wires 1/2 inch long, I soldered
a bare wire connector with 18 inchs of wire on each one, next I put on a 2 inch piece of heat shrink, I filled the round place with epoxy
and put epoxy on the heat shrink. I put on a 2 inch piece of hose to cover everything. Put the wire in position before the epoxy sets.
I cut a small grove in the top corner of the block for the wires.........good luck ........has
