Just bought an older 50hp merc that by looks has been taking care of. But havent tried to crank yet, was kinda goning over and found a wire from the stator that had been spliced and when I looked closer the wire had been hot because the insulation just crumbled, it is the wire that goes to the white/black on the box. Does anybody know what this wire is for and does the stator need replacing?
