I have a 2001 Yamaha 90A 2stroke that recently failed to start after a tote tank ran out. I was told it may be water in the fuel. I removed and drained the carbs and flushed the fuel system, then i found there was no spark. having taken it to a local repair shop i am told the stator has failed. After speaking further i find the repair shop does not know what the resistance in ohms should be and also does not have a DVA to check. I have been given the stator back to se if i can find a replacement. How do i check it off the engine? can this be done?:

Re: stator checks 90A

How did they determine it was bad if they did not test?

All you can do is an ohm and short test. It is a lot better to test on the motor where you can check voltages. Pick up a Yamaha service manual and the proper test equipment.
