Stator Boss???

I ordered a 1989 90hp yamaha powerhead here from I-boats. The guy called me back later and wanted to know what the measurement was at the stator boss. He said it is either 1/16 inch or 5/8 inch. Ive heard of a stator but not a stator boss. He said its got something to do with where stator mushrooms out. Any ideas where i should measure??

its the boss on the block area that the stator mounts to, dont remember the measurements but 1/16th is very small compared with 5/8ths. the two blocks will interchange but the electrical components wont . thats why they need to know which stator boss you have.

he may have been asking about a starter boss. seems some changed. also some of the oil pump mounting boss's changed.
