Just replaced a 3 year old starting battery because of its age and the fact that even at full charge, it wouldn't turn the engine over fast enough to start it. In fact, it hesitated momentarily like the starter simply had difficulty overcoming the compression stroke, but then would crank the engine, but no where near as fast as it normally does. Checked all the leads found everything tight and in good condition. Same problem still exists with a brand new battery.

Starter motor shot? It is the original 1979 starter motor. Sure would appreciate some help.
