Starting Issues

I have a 2002 VP 5.7 GXI-A the last sea trial I got out about a mile then the engine sputtered and died will not restart once back in I can crank the engine, and it will briefly fire and run only about 2 sec I did notice that the injectors are spraying fuel during cranking but immediately quit when it fires up. any suggestions on where to start looking.

look to see if you still have power on the purple wire after you release the switch from the start position to the run position.

if that checks out, next step is to make sure that the oil pressure switch (not gauge sender) is connected and properly functioning.
