Starting evinrude 10hp motor

I have a 1955 evinrude fastwin motor with serial number 15014-07479. The pullcord and recoil spring broke. I was looking at getting an extra recoil assembly, but having a hard time finding a triple prawl assembly. can you put a single prawl assembly on a triple prawl unit? Also what would be the best type of pull cord to use? The one that came off it had wire in the center?

Hi Hunter. I don't think you can use a single on a triple. I would check sites like ebay for complete pull starter assemblies, which you can usually get for about $30. Here is a handy overall link for your motor too.
