I have a 1999 johnson tiller pull start. I have to pull the rope 20 to 25 times to get it started. Once started and warm it will start again with just one pull ;.I do pull the choke to get it started and after that it runs great! Is there something i am missing when first starting this motor?

I don't see a problem. After that many rope pulls you should be where you were going, anyway !

ACTUALLY your engine probably has a primer knob you pump rather than just pull out and start the motor. As a rule, pull that knob out and push it in 3 times.the last time you push it in only to the red band on the knob. Now pull the rope.

Once the motor has warmed up,push the knob all the way in.
