Hey to all I am new to the boating world (Thanks to my wife)
I have a 88 Four Winns OMC 4.3 V6 Chevy engine and was wondering if there is any difference in a marine starter to a vehicle starter?

Thanks

Re: Starters?

Get the old starter rebuilt. It's safer and won't cost as much as a marine starter. The auto starters don't have a partition built in.It's a spark partition keeping fumes from the brushes.Jerry

Re: Starters?

Welcome to iboats!

As stated above ALL ignition, fuel and electrical parts must be marine rated. Your wife won't be real happy when the boat explodes because that auto part was $30 cheaper.

A good investment for you will be the OMC factory service manual/s for your engine and drive.
