Batteries tested good under load. Starter just spins without going up to engage flywheel.

Hello Nicko;
Did you do a drop load test?
Use a meter to read the voltage getting to your starter while being cranked. full 12 volts, chances are the starter is poor. Less then 10-10.5 volts check connections, do the same test on the selinoid, work your way back to the battery.
Good Luck, Rob

Hi nicko,
On the Merc starters the brush holders are a
nylon type material that swells when it gets overheated.It then pinches a brush so your not getting max current flow to the comutator. They can be shaved with a x-acto
knife,but its better to replace the brush holder. Also check to see that the comutator is not warped or shorted to ground. If the bottom bushing is wore it is best to replace the assembly. You get brushes,holder,ect.
...have fun...corm

------------------
cubic inches = power
power = speed
speed = FUN

Thanks!!!!
Performed the drop load and found insufficient voltage. Installed new merc cables and she turned right over.
