When I turn the key the starter turns over a few times and then the starter runs constantly. The only way to stop it is by turning off the master switch. When i turn the master switch back on it runs constantly. Is the problem in the master switch or the ignition switch? It won't start when it is doing this either. I have already replaced the starter and solenoid. It is a Johnson 175 V6

Re: Starter sticking on

See if you can jump your solenoid with the key off. If it operates normally, I would suspect the ignition switch.

Re: Starter sticking on

The usual culprit is the starter relay/solenoid, but since you have already changed it then the ignition switch is the next suspect.

VERIFY this with an Ohm's meter, with the battery selector turned OFF, test the starter trigger wire to the battery pos cable/wire. Easiest place is right at the starter relay, the trigger should be yellow with a red trace, test this wire to the battery cable lug on the relay. If you have continuity there then go forward to the ignition switch and disconnect that same yellow w/red and retest. If now no continuity the replace the ignition switch.
