starter spring repair

Hey all still on the little evinrude 4hp,got the gearbox and waterpump back together,now I have found a broken starter return spring,Broken at the end has anybody had any luck in heating and rebending the end,Here most of my enquiries for parts are met with the answer ,obsolete sofar getting a fuel tank has just drawn blanks

hi.
i had broken spring in my last 4hp model.
i heat the and of this spring, use a hamer and slowly tap the end of this spring on a round thick bolt to form some kind of hook. and i menage to form make this hook.
while puting back this spring try to be patien and careful, spring can fly sometime

Try Twincityoutboard.com for used, obsolete parts for older motors. This place has a mountain of outboards (literally) in the side yard. The engines get disassembled and items tagged an put into stock. Been there many times and never came away empty handed.

Thanks to both of you for the replies raczekp1 I will give it ago and silvertip twincity do they ship overseas,I received an email yesterday that a north queensland wrecker occasionally gets one in and has put my name on a waiting list
