1997 Johnson 50hp. History so far. Removed vro2 as per guidance from this site, and installed conventional pump. Tried to crank to check out, and starter only engaged flywheel and made half a revolution. First had starter checked by shop and found to be ok. Went back to try again. Same thing. Had good voltage at battery and at top of solenoid (12.6 volts). Had wife help by turning ignition switch to crank. Voltage at bottom of solenoid and at starter terminal was 7.5 volts. I know indeed at least 10 volts to crank. Used 2 good batteries with full charge. Did voltage drop from battery positive post to top of solenoid and from battery negative post to engine ground lug. Both showed loss of 1.3 volts loss. I also know it should be no more than .3 volts loss. Are these readings valid with starter engaged with flywheel and jammed so to speak. Also after reading hundreds of times here about connections, I removed and sanded shiny each and every electrical connection and re installed. Looked at battery cables due to voltage drop tests, but they looked fantastic. Solenoid? Cables? Am at a loss. Please help.
