When I hit the key all I get is a click. I replaced the battery and still just a click how can I tell if its the key switch, solenoid, or the starter? It was working fine then one day it just wouldn't start just click.... any answers

Hi, Ashlo.

Welcome to iboats. :)

You have a very common problem that is quick, easy and free to fix.

Take your battery cable connections off at both ends. Inspect the cables for swelling and/or soft spots (internal corrosion).

Carefully clean all of the connections and reinstall.

Repeat this every Spring during your get-ready.

Let us know the result, and good luck. :)

If you jump the wires on your solenoid with a screwdriver and the starter is good it will spin. That should tell you if its the solenoid. Its an easy fix and takes minutes. Just remember that whenever you replace any electrical parts on your motor to disconnect the battery.
