Starter issue

I picked up a project boat and the starter is engaging on its own when I turn the battery switch on. I’ve narrowed it down to potential improper ignition switch wiring . My issue is finding the proper Wiring diagrams for an e60tledr evinrude. Has anyone had this issue before and any idea how I can find the right wiring diagram? Internet hasn’t had a match so far and service manual is giving different colors than the wires connecting to the switch.

Check the maxrules web site. They have common wiring diagrams.

There is a table that will give the year of your motor, by the model number. Pick out a wiring diagram of your year and HP if possible, but usually one of about the same year and about the same HP will work as well.

The maxrules ----Site has wiring diagram for the remote control and ignition switch.-----Hopefully the previous owner did not apply 12 volts to coils and CD powerpack.

Haven’t heard of maxrules , thank you. Unfortunately they don’t carry 1996 60 HP
