Problem: 1955 Mercury Mark 25e 18 hp serial number 879412 restoration purchase w/out starter. Motor is in transit. Manuals purchased and in transit. Have found replacement starter for 1956 25e designed w/11 tooth drive for 58 tooth flywheels.
Question: Does anyone know if this starter will work on the 1955 model. If not what are the drive/flywheel tooth combinations on the 1955 Mercury Mark 25e 18 hp model and potentially the original part number for the starter. And of course any supplier for the appropriate starter would be appreciated.
FYI: Already scanning ebay and such for parts.
