Starter for 1971 18 hp

Am I able to mount or install a starter on my 1971 18 hp outboard? If yes, what would be the part number or starter? Thanks

Yes , many left the factory with electric start.-----A donor motor is the best way to go.---The 22 cubic inch from 58 to 1976 all had similar parts.------New parts may well be out of reach.

Is there a mounting plate or brackett or would I have to fabricate myself?

part 126256 -----Starter bracket alone lists at $321 US----I would look for a donor motor for say $150 to get everything.----Not sure of the tools in your workshop. ---Yes if you have the time and skill you could make some parts.
