On my 305 I am putting a new marine arco starter in cuz my old one is kinda run down. I got the two bolts in the rear of the engine one long and one short. And the bracket behind the starter that mounts to the block. I got the front two off and the back is loose. But it wont slide out. Do you have to remove the whole rear bracket to take it out?

Re: starter change

IF it's hanging up on that bracket, then take it off.

Re: starter change

Ayuh,...

The forward Bracket usually has to come Off to allow the Starter to move Forward,+ then down,+ out.....

Re: starter change

Then Hercules arms, or blocks under it to get the bolts started back.
