starter, 90 hp johnson

My starter will not extend to the flywheel, if I pry with a bar it will extend. Do I need new starter or a repair kit. DT. tenn

richard,<br /><br />It sounds like your Bendix is sticking. Work the Bendix up and down the shaft by rotating it (the Bendix) by hand. While your doing that, lube it with WD-40.
