Start-up proceedure after 4 years

I have not run 1976 50hp merc since 2003. I am concerned that there is no oil in it and that initial start-up may damage something internally.

Any sound advice will be helpful.

I'd change the impeller, check the carbs, new gear oil, and oil-up the cyl's before running it. Here's a good read with plenty info on 'waking up' a motor that's been sitting for a while:
