In Leeroy's article on Carburetor / Fuel Pump Repairs from Leeroy's Ramblings, he said,

"If you are having problems locating a start position on your twist grip throttle setting, or if you have a remote throttle, a method of locating the timing "START" position would be to advance the timing plate to where the carburetor arm roller just touches the timing plate cam, then advance it about 3/8" (9-10mm) more. This positions the timing and throttle at about the start position in the carburetor."

Is the 3/8" the amount the arm roller moves or is it the amount to continue to rotate the timing plate cam?

Simple .--------The start mark on the twist grip is a very crude indication and you ignore it.----------With the motor in neutral the throttle only opens up to a stop to limit total throttle in neutral.-----Turn the twist grip till you come to that stop and start the motor.------------I have to ask---how long have you owned it ?----------Does it run ok once started ?

I've owned it for several years. Recently became hard to start and seems to be starved for fuel/air mix. Cam roller is worn and grooved and barely moves carb linkage before reaching the neutral stop. I have ordered a new cam follower and roller.
