 Do I have to disassemble my entire steering column in order to straighten it ? The wheel shifted to one side and is throwing my cable drum off-line . ( First time at this ).

Re: starcraft steering

Welcome to iboats.

Is it a cable and pulley system (using vinyl coated thin wire cable) or is it a single cable system? Please explain that the steering column shifted.....you might need to rebuild the dash

Thank-you for your response, I ended up taking the whole column out . it's a single cable pulley system (with the coated wire) . when I replace the cable to the drum , should I add both ends ,with the motor straight , or do I and majority of cable from one side ? the cable runs down both sides of the boat. Oh yea, my dash seems fine , the main center nut under the column cover was not tight enough. straightened it up and snuged it up tight .
