Re: Starcraft Jet Star Restore
I just bought a Starcraft Jet Star 15 and I need Parts.
I need:
(2) Step Pads
(1) Bow Cleat
(2) Bow hook (Name?)
(2) Stern Cleats
(1) Switch Panel
If I could get boat pictures from the original boat that would be nice to!
Thanks!
For this
Starcraft Jet Star?
Got a year? There is a whole thread of useful
Starcraft brochures, if you know the year, you'll know what brochure to look thru. There are often subtle differences in beam (width) & overall length that can help you narrow down what year your Jet Star is. Hull & topside colors were often year specific as well, so if yours still has the original vinyl paint, that may help you figure out what year.
Bow Hook? Got a pix of what you're referring too? I've never seen a hook or handle on the bow of a closed bow Jet/Jet Star.
Do you mean the bow eye for attaching the winch strap to the boat? Like this:
Many Starcrafts were delivered to a dealer w/ out light & cleat rigging, so 1 dealer might use 1 bow light & cleat set, another might use different hardware.
Search Ebay everyday, vintage hardware is readily available & in a wide range or price & condition...
Unless you are attempting a faithful to the original, restoration, any bow eye, bow/deck cleats, stern/transom cleats & step pads will work. Iboats sells new hardware, and it's often on sale, other vendors also carry them.
Stern eye/cleat:
You will want to make sure the bolt length is sufficient to allow adequate thread on the inside of the boat for the load plate & for the nuts to fully engage on the bolt threads. The same eye/cleat can be used as tow eyes for skiers (if so rated), transportation tie down strap attachements, and a bow eye. Usually a total of 3 per boat. 2 Thru the transom, 1 at the bow for the winch strap..
Iboats & others also sell switch panels, that also may have been dealer add-ons....
You can find original
ads for vintage hardware here, on the far right of the page, down below the boathouse bulletins, trailers, & motor info.
Follow the
Starcraft Parts thread. Often the closed bow boats are redone into open bow or fishing boats, and many of the runabout features are removed & not replaced (step pads & frames).
EDIT: Might want to combine this w/ your resto thread.... Or at least post a link in the 2 threads so if someone reads thru 1 they can easily click the link & read the other. You'll want as many people helping you as you can get if you're looking for vintage parts.
