I have a 1973 starcraft 120 hp mercruiser and can anyone explain this to me? It's my understanding that you shouldn't seal the sides of the deck to the insides of an aluminum hull. OK, if this is so, then how can you have any hope of not having waterlogged foam beneath deck (assuming it is used)? Also, still undecided as to whether I should use 1/2" or 3/4"plywood for decking. Thanks in advance.

Starcraft Armada..... the secret iboats navy

3/4" is best for the deck and it will not flex. Do not attach it to the sides dur to the hull flexing......... Use extruded pink or blue board from a building supply store ........ that will not absorb the water.

Don't mean to sound dense, but what is this extruded pink or blue board, what is it called, and can you explain it's exact application and how to fabricate it to the boat?

SS. It's called extruded polystyrene and comes either pink or blue. Also called Dow or Foamular (manufacturers) insulation. Take a look at how I installed it in my boat by using the restoration link in my signature. I'm not sayin you gotta do it that way, but it worked for me:D
