Stalls when Throttling Honda 2hp

Hi have a late 80's little Honda 2hp motor that starts fine(1-2pulls) but when throttling up to wot it just dies out. I adjust the idle or do I have to clean the carb? Any advice is most appreciated TY

I would clean the carb, knowing full well at that point you can eliminate that possibility if the problem persists afterward.
