stalls at idle 40 hp force 1995

Was running well .. Ran a rich mixture through and now it idles rough and quits .. fine in fast idle.. When put in gear stalls..I have changed the plugs and have a 50-1 mix ,still wont idle for long and quits when in gear..

Check your fuel filter..

Running a lean mixture is dangerous to 2 stroke motors. You should check your compression first to make sure no damage was done.

I went to a boating place today they gave me some power tune to spray into the carb .. He thinks maybe just all gummed up from too rich of a mixture.. any thoughts?

That power tune probably wont do anything. Your best bet is to get fresh gas mixed 50 to 1. Take carb apart, clean and rebuid it. Then rebuild your fuel pump, replace all the fuel lines and get a new primer bulb. Then follow the manual for adjusting the mixture screw. You should also replace the spark plugs. That power tune is more of a decarbon type spray. If you use that make sure you are using old spark plugs and dont do it in your garage or near your house because of the grimy crap that might come out when you use it.

Mercury POwer Tune is a decarb product. It may be just what your engine needs, to remove carbon, loosen rings, restore compression. Only trying it will tell you for sure. I used the power tune and now the boat is running , i adjusted the low idle screw so in turn adjusted the throtle .. Now it seems to be eating up the gas hmmm wonder why .One short trip up the river 3/4 tank of gas way too much for such a short trip.

how big is your gas can? How far and how fast were you going. My 45 will suck 6 gallons in a little over an hour at WOT.

After you adjust the idle, how t=do you adjust the throttle.?
