I have a 64 40hp johnson. I'd like to find a stainless steel prop for it. Can anyone tell me if they are made or at least what the spec on the shaft is. Thanks
Bill

The stainless props of the day were made of bronze. I have two of them (a three- and a four-blade) and no they're not for sale. I see them on eBay a lot.

Re: SS prop for big twin

If you're looking for performance, try one of the 2-blade bronze props. Michigan made a few of them in about 15 or 16 inch pitches. On a light hull where speed is the goal, they're the way to go. Also seen on eBay frequently...

Plus, they look really cool shined up!

A word of caution - the bronze props weigh a good deal more than aluminum counterparts and as such will put a bit more strain on the clutch dog and gears. Shift quickly, firmly and at the lowest possible idle speed...
- Scott
