I know that this question has been asked before, but i found many different answers.

I have a 1986 chaparral cuddy, and the blue section on the sides is faded badly. You can also see where the previous owner had removed the name from her. I was thinking of wet sanding the area to restore the color and so I cannot see the old name. Will this work? Can anyone recommend good products /tools to use? Any info would be great.

I'll try to post pics asap.

Re: Spring cleaning

Wet sanding followed by buffing will get rid of the "ghost" name, but restoring color might not be in the stars. It depends on whether it is just surface fading or deeper.

Start with 400 or finer wet paper, work up to 1800 or 2000. Then buff.

Good luck. :)

Re: Spring cleaning

Thanks....

Should I sand everything by hand or can I use a power sander/ buffer to help me out?

I know that the more time spent sanding the better the final result will be, but at 20', I think my arms might fall off. lol d:)
