I was wondering if anyone has any experience painting there boat with the stuff that they spray in truck beds, like rhino liner. It will not be in the water much, maybe a day every couple weeks. I was going to try to find the smooth colored stuff. I can wash it and wax it after every use. Also was wondering about spraying the rough stuff on for the floor as it is waterproof.

Thanks,

Chuck :D

As a decking, other people have used it and been happy with it. Just remember, it is heavy as it is rubberized (soft plastic). That same fact also makes it horrible for bottom paint, as it will cause serious drag on the hull.

Thanks for the welcome That's what I was afraid of. Can you recommend a decent cheap paint. The guy I got the boat from lightly sanded the old paint off and now its dull and ugly.

Rustoleum makes a marine paint for almost as cheap as house paint.

What kind of boat? Aluminum, wood, fiberglass? On you going to use it on the bottom of the hull in the water or just on the decking?

Fiberglass Hull. I am looking for something to paint the hull. I had the thought about rustoleum. It is a good paint and cheap.

I just used the rustoleum on my aluminum cherokee.I was a bit skeptical but for twenty bucks a gallon I would just sand it off and spray some Imron on it.I was very suprised and happy with how it turned out.I will leave it on there and will use it in the future on lower value cars.

I used 3M bedliner spray on my little aluminum boat interior hull and there are good and bad aspects of it. The 3M is far superior than the autozone store brand, I tried the cheaper stuff and wasn't impressed.

Best thing about it is that it is much cooler with bare feet than hot aluminum on a sunny day.:) It also absorbs some noise compared to the bare metal and looks nicer than the old non-skid smurf-turf factory paint.

If I had to do it all over again I would have just used gluvit as a sealer on the rivets and seams since I'm adding drop-in wood decking and the bedliner is not to be used primarily as a sealer IMO. I am considering using bedliner on the wooden decking as well, can't decide since I like to look of the wood.

I agree with the other posts regarding exterior bedliner...drag drag drag:eek:
