As far as strator and voltage reg, I think I found the ones I need. Gonna check around for best price. I guess I'll be back when I get them and install them. Anything I need to be particularly aware of? Or anything to look out for? Aftermarket voltage reg? I know to get the red stator, but the OEM volt. reg will be fine?
need some help, guys. Im looking @ stators and Im finding red ones and red kits. The kits come with the candybar shaped black box. Am I ordering a red stator and a voltage regulator or am I ordering the kit and the candybar replaces the volt reg??
ok, guys, I got the red SIERRA stator and voltage reg today. Put the stator on and im a little confused. I have 2 yellow, a green and a white wire coming from the stator. Of course the yellows go to the existing yellow wires. But the old black stator had red/white and blue/white going to ground and a red and a blue going to the switch box. thats 4 wires. I have a white and a green.... where do they go?
I also have my new voltage reg. the new one has 2 red, 2 yellow and a grey wire. The old one only has one red wire. Wheres the 2nd one on the new one go??
Did they come with instructions ? I will have to research sierra products to give proper advice , Sounds to me like you have some updated parts that will need some adapters . Hurricane is closing in here will post up when I can . I am quite sure that the red wires will need to go to a 20 amp fuse adapter (connected to each other through the fuse ) the stator wires will either need an adapter or they will go to the switchbox directly , post up the part number of the stator you got , that will help .
Apparently i ordered the wrong parts. Sierra doesnt make a replacement stator for my application! Wtf? I gotta return the parts and find the right ones.
Alive and well , Had computer problems and internet connection problems , Also things went sideways at work and have been doing 16 hr days to get things back on track . Now back to your stuff . CDI makes a direst replacement stator for your boat , I will post up the numbers later today , just catching up right now !
Kend, i know ur checking on the stator, but could u also include part numbers for the voltage reg, coil mag #1, ride plate, grate, impeller, wear ring..... or tell me whhat web site i can plug my SN into and get the part numbers?
this is a good thread, i also just baught my first boat for cheap and am in the same position of rebuilding the engine, although i havnt started yet cause of $$, but i plan to get it up by next summer. my jet is fine but my sport jet 90 engine looks like it needs a good overhaul....ill be staying tuned and watching....thumbs up to kend for all the good info
not sure exactly what the cdm conversion kit is but i assume it has to do with the stator replacement as they seem to sell the correct stator(i think, i am just learning) for 225$
Hate to do this but Jon you are just learning as you said , yes that stator will work but not when converting to a red stator from black , It will kill the entire ignition system with a switchbox with out the conversion kit adapter . The CDM ignition system is entirely different and parts for the kits should they fail are no longer available for the 93-96 Sport Jet
