My dear, dear wife. Wonderful woman. God bless her for wanting to take the kids out on the boat while I'm at work. So when she texts to say the oil alarm is beeping, I think piece of cake. It's an 18' Bayliner with a '01 Mercury 125, with the self-mixing oil reservoir. Cap right on top of motor cover, I say. Half a jug.
Now I've become accustomed to the "oops" texts. "I think I hit a couple rocks." (Flooded motor. Windy day. Blown into rock seawall. Next time, drop the anchor dear.) "I think I lost the anchor." (Took off with anchor down. Sheared line. Next time, pull the anchor dear.)
So when she texts back to say it's still beeping, I think, my dear, dear wife. Yep, you guessed it. She removed the cap from the motor cover, but failed to remove the second cap for the reservoir itself.
So the question is, other than mopping it up the best I can, is there anything particular I should look for or pay attention to? Or does this require a look-over from a pro?
