Speedometer issue..

I have an 06 Q4 with the 4.3L Mercruiser and have had no luck with the speedometer. I used a small drill bit to clean it out because a paperclip just could not clear the debris.

Does anyone know how far the debris could be lodged in or what the next course of action should be? I took the drill bit in about a half inch then used a paperclip which went in about an inch.

If this is the type that has a pitot tube mounted on the stern, disconnect the tube from the back of the gage and use compresed air or water to blow the line clear.
