No, swapped to an alternator and got rid of the points. the regulator is still there and passing water through, but not used.
Mine too (the regulator still in place / not used.)
Good for you installing the seals in the cover yourself!
Keep us in the loop, hopefully no leaks for you!

Motor is finally installed and running. Swapped over the starter and one of the relays from my old motor becuase I knew they were new parts. Motor fired up pretty quick. Can you say "RELIEF"!!!??? :-D

Had to order another gasket for the outdrive, so if the outdrive works ok when I put it on, I'll FINALLY have the boat back in the water next weekend!

There's a light at the end of the tunnel. I sure hope it's not a train! lol

Hey that's good!
Sounds like you're getting there Dave;
Just keep moving and soon it will be a memory when
you're out on the water in the sunshine.

Folks have every right to knock the 3.7
but it does feel good as a mechanic to stand by the
motor box at idle and say
"Yeah; I did this...and it's purring now because of me."
(And the great folks at iboats!)

Re: Speedi Sleeve for 3.7 Water Pump Shaft

FINALLY!!!!! The boat is in the water, floating and running! This has been a really long trip from when I bought this train wreck of a boat to now. I got the plugs and wires transferred over and the outdrive went right on. Saturday I put it in the water and it started right up. I did a quick tune on the distributor. it was way out of time. (Why do owners and/or other mechanics leave such a simple thing undone???!!!) I did a short run of about 30 minutes and then left the boat to sit overnight. So far so good. After sitting overnight, there seemed to be no issues that I could see. Sunday I had it out for 3+ hours running at various speeds from just off idle to WOT. No problems at all with either fluids nor heatup. I did notice during my short WOT run that the temp rose a bit, but did not reach 180. As soon as I slowed back down, it settled down to the 165 range. My new composite transom and floor in the back are doing great. No leaks, problems or issues with that part either. The boat is now in the condition it SHOULD have been last summer. Now I can move forward on the cosmetic improvements to getting her looking as good as she now runs!
