OK. This is a stupid question, but I have a "new" used engine, which came with no info.
What oil is recommended for a 1992 70HP Evinrude?

TCW-3 2-stroke outboard oil is what you're looking for. Any major brand that is so labeled is fine.

You'll mix this with 87-octane gasoline at a ratio of 50:1. That is one pint to six gallons of gasoline.

That will work just fine.

Oh, yes. If your motor is the type with a separate oil tank, you simply put the oil in that tank and it is automatically mixed with the oil. However, you'll want to make sure that the pump that pumps the oil to the engine is operating properly.

To do this, you can simply prepare the 50:1 mixture, as described above, and run that, with oil also in the oil tank. Once you see that the pump is operating by the oil in the tank being used, you can discontinue the oil mixture with the fuel.
