sparkplug for 1982 johnson 175

just bought a boat with a 1982 johnson 175 outboard went to change sparkplugs it had champion QL77JC4 plugs in it but champion reccomends QL16V for it. What should i do?

You can use a UL77V or QL16V<br />Which both of these are surface gap plugs. I am kinda like you about what was in it. If it were mine I would only use what mfg suggest to use

Welcome!<br /><br />Yes, the QL77JC4's are fine. With todays fuel thats a good choice. And not quite as expensive as the surface gap plugs.

I agree.... The Champion QL77JC4 plugs are what OMC recommends for that engine, gapped at .040 .
