Spark Problem

I have a 98 Johnson 25 HP 3 cylinder. The ignition has problems.....it only sparks some of the time on all the cylinders. The spark is very bright blue and strong but it doesn;t spark all the time, so the motor only runs on 1 or two cylinders at any one time.

Any thoughts. I have been told that it may be the stator or the powerpack..

I'd get the factory service manual , a DVA meter off ebay and start doing the tests by the book. You need the genuine service book, not clymer.seloc.

are you using Champion QL82C gapped at.030 spark plugs. that is what it is suppose to have. others will cause misfire.
