Is the model of the motor unknown?

Is it known if it is a Suzuki or a Yamaha brand?

Yeah I've been around cars my whole life and never used a timing light. I didn't even know you hooked it to something lol. The vacuum guage is just to sync the pressure of your carbs.

How long has your life been?

It was common practice years ago to use a timing light so as to turn a distributor so that the idle timing was correct. A vacuum source was connected to the distributor so that timing would change as the manifold pressure went up and down as the load and RPM of the motor varied.

After changing the points (often in some cases) the timing would be checked to make sure that it was correct.

yes, vacuum gauge for syncing the carbs/cylinders.
But that is not what he said

I remember using a Vacuum Gauge to set the timing correctly. Very accurate way. Eliminates all factory errors.

timing is changed by I guess the CDI/ECU on your 4 stoke motor using inputs it gets from sensors.
you have no idea what it is doing while running at idle or above unless you check it.
and then compare to the specs in you manual..
if out of spec tuning/syncing would be very difficult or impossible

Yes...that is correct! I took her out today for the first time after about an hour of syncing. I was determined and she's running smoothly finally!
