I have a four winns 248 Vista with a Volvo Penta 5.0Gi. What spark plugs does it use? Want to replace them

Moved you to VP, because it's a motor question not a 4 winns

Here are some suggestions:
  • Look in the manual to see what is spec’ed out
  • Pull one of the plugs and get same brand / model
  • Search this forum for others who have asked the same. I readily found this post (link).
  • Search other search engines for VP 5.0 GI Spark Plugs.
All this assumes you are not looking to do anything other then simply replace > ie you are not looking to adjust the heat range (not recommended) nor are you looking for a particular brand.

Note about brands: recommend sticking to a major brand (Champion, NGK, etc.) and from a reputable source. Reason: there are copycats on the market that look and are packaged like the brand they are copying but they are a knock off. Also, some folks are passionate about what brand of plug they use. And it may make a difference is a high-performance applications. But in my experience as long as a major brand from reputable source I have not found any difference.

Unfortunately, you can also find fakes from “reputable sources”. Hundreds of Chinese factories 24/7/365 counterfeit Champion, NGK, etc. :)

Moreover, in some (non-English speaking) countries the Chinese even manage to officially register the Champion brand (they first register the word “champion” in the language of the country, and then write it in English).
So you can buy a fake even in the “official” Champion store. :)

I found a very simple way to distinguish a fake from the original. All major brands in the USA and Japan have their own corporate colors in the Pantone system. And the packaging is printed on printing machines with the Pantone system, where each color of paint is refilled separately. The Chinese counterfeit manufacturers print everything on cheap CMYK machines, where all colors are synthesized from 4 main inks. It is impossible to fake a Pantone color on a CMYK printing press. Therefore, it is enough to bring an inexpensive Chinese colorimeter to the package and see the result. If the colors are determined as Pantone with a probability of more than 95% and their numbers correspond to the company ones, then this is an original, if not, then it’s a fake.

You don’t even need to open the packaging and look at the spark plug itself. :)

Spark plug part numbers are listed on the starboard side of my engine. Have you looked there?
