My chart shows Champion 7712 gapped at .030 ". If it's wrong I'm sure somebody will chime in.

With all of the problems that went on with the FICHT motors they changed to the XC12PEPB, gapped at .030. Prices range from $6 to $9 each depending on where you get them. Boatfix.com has them in stock. Make sure you index them when you replace them. I have been using the same ones for three years without problems.

Re: Spark plugs --- 1999 Ficht 115 hp

BRP's current recommendation:

90, 115HP Ficht 1998 - 1999 7712 .030 Plain, unpinned heads
90, 115HP Ficht 2000 -2005 XC12PEPB .030 Pinned heads
115HP DI 2006 & newer RC12PEPB .030 Pinned heads

The early V-4s and the 1997 to 1999 150 hp and 175 hp engines may have "pinned" cylinder heads if they were upgraded at some time. Look at one of the spark plug holes to see if there is an Allen-head screw near the recessed area's edge (the screw retains the pin or "deflector" in the cylinder heads). If so, a Champion XC12PEP plug is required.

In many cases, the Champion QC12PEP works better and lasts longer than the 7712's for the '98 and '99 V-4's.

The pinned heads update kits were for the V-6 motors, not V-4's
