I have a 96 evinrude that I just replaced the power pack on. It is a CDI power pack and it says to make sure to use gray inductive spark plug wires. Mine are gray and say" OMC CDI suppresion cables". Are these the right ones? Any help would be great.

Thanks Darel

Re: spark plug wires

thanks Jonesg,

the engine is a 150, sorry i left that out. I got it started today and it is running extremely rough. The web site looks like it will be helpful.

Thanks, Darel

Re: spark plug wires

Find out whether its an ignition or fuel problem.

Put a timing light on the wires to see if its not firing on a cylinder or two or three. Check the power pack plug sockets, clean and replug with a bit of dialectric grease.

Try pumping the ignition ket to inject extra fuel, if it bogs down its not a fuel problem.

You got fresh fuel right? clean out the water seperator?

You'll need a peak reading meter or DVA to do most of the voltage tests on the link I gave you, but DVA adapters are simple to make yourself.

Re: spark plug wires

My fault!!!!!! Got ahead of myself. One of the coil wires were crossed. It was not the same length as the one on the other side and threw me off, but got it now and runs great. Thanks for your help and I will keep that web site for future use.

Thanks Darel
