I have a 2004 Mercury 90HP 2Stroke that has NGK BPZ8 H-N-10 plugs. Call for NGK BUZHW-2 which are discontinued? What is available best plug & will the BPZ8 damage motor or??

NGK BUZHW-2 Convert Spark Plug Cross Reference:

Your motor calls for a surface gap sparkplug. The ones you are using have a conventional protruding electrode.

Hi roscoe;
Thank you for your help & will follow up the noted plugs.
NGK just called me & said they no longer have a plug available or a cross referenced one anymore for this engine.

The 10 is the new recommended sparkplug for the 4 cylinder motors. the L78V is the recommended plug for my 1999 90 hp

I ran the alternate gapped plug (in the service manual) in my 2002 90 and got better service. I suppose my boating habits were more suited to that plug than the SG. As I understand it, the SG stands up to lots of long runs at WOT. I ran them in a 1988 115 tower of power and they were a perfect fit and lasted years without needing replacement....course that boat was a pad hull and it had 3 speeds: Off, get out of the slow wake zone, and WOT.
