My local mechanic gapped the plugs on my 5.7 350 mag, 2002 engine to .035 instead of .060. Now my valves are all burned up and i :mad:have no compression in 4 cylinders. did his gap cause this problem? What happens when the gap is wrong like this?

Re: Spark Plug Gap

Nope,... More likely, you've got a plugged fuel filter causing a Lean condition, which caused Detonation, which burnt up the valves...

Or you are overpropped, causing your engine to lug (not able to reach the recommended WOT rpm range), heating up the combustion chamber too high, and thus tulipping your valves. Or the bottom of your boat is dirty and caused the same thing.
Sprak plug gap has NO bearing on your issue.
