Just inherited 1954 johnson 5.5hp and can't find
info on the spark plug gap and gas/oil ratio in the repair manuals at the library. Any help would be appreciated

Re: spark plug gap and gas/oil mix

Welcome to Iboats!

5.5hp takes a Champion J6C (replacing the old J6J) plug gapped at .030". Fuel/Oil ratio is 24:1. Use 87 octane gas and TC-W3 outboard oil in it. Have a look at roscoe's decarb FAQ in the FAQ forum. ;)

Anything else you need to know?
