thanks - i picked this outboard up for $60 - the starter rope is broken along with the spring but the owner said it worked a year and 1/2 ago. so i'm going to clean it up, change the gear lube, plug and some new gas and see if it starts. if it does i'll replace the spring and rope and whatever else it needs to get it back on the water.

well i got it started today - but i had to pour gas in it to get it to go. it ran for quite a while. after i shut it down i tried to start it again but no luck. a friend of mine said i probably would have to prime it the next few times i start it then after that it should start fine.

i ordered all the parts for the starter spring and any additional parts i thought i would need. i'll install all that stuff before i try starting it again.

check to make sure fuel is getting from the tank to the carb, if it has a filter in the tank, it could be gummed up.

i put a new gas line it and tested it by opening the gas tank - gas was getting to the carb - i'll pull that filter and clean it when i install the new pull rope
