Hi every one I'm new to I boats and boating in general and after finding a wealth of information on these site I decided to make a post of my own.I apologize in advanced for my bad grammer and long windedness I never did do well in English class. I purchased what I had hoped to be a fun little boat for the summer with a bit of TLC. Well as most of you know things don't go as planed thanks to Mr. Murphy . I now find myself in the middle of a full restoration my main objectives are
1. don't worry about the cosmetics
2. focus of the safety of boat as I rebuild it
3. reach my goal of Lil Tipsey (what my girl friend and I named the boat) back together and floating by early or mid june
4. gather as much information and help from those more knowledgeable than me
It is a 1963 Glastron SkyFilte or at least that's what the title says .The package cost me 350 bucks I got the boat ,trailer and two motors a 35hp seahorse long shaft and a 40hp seahorse short shaft. After testing compression and spark on the motors they are on the back burner while I get the boat in ship shape. I will save the next few post for pics and brief explanations but until I can figure that out Ill do my best to explain the few bumps I've run into. The first is my seats are molded and part of the cap I haven't found this on any other boat I've found through Google. The reason I bring this up is every one seems to have stringers that run length wise and a deck. My boat only has three stringers that run width wise and a small foot rest plate in the bow with glass over wood planks for reinforcement. It would seem after my tear down this was all factory. The next issue I've run into is I don't know what type of mat to use for proper structural strength when I lay the floor back down and tab in my new transom. I hope to post my pics soon and look forward to any help you can offer thank you.
