I have a 74 70 hp evinrude that I am having problems with. It will idle fine in the driveway with muffs on but once I put it in the lake,it will not idle. It stalls out. I can't get out of the launch. I've had the garbs cleaned with no change. What could this problem be? Thanks?

Link 'n' synch must have been done with no exhaust back pressure, Owaso. To get the best result, Link 'n' Synch should be done in the water, with back pressure on the exhaust and load on the prop (idle only). Trash can will do a better job than muffs.

I'm pretty sure all cylinders are firing. I had a friend of mine check compression and he said it was fine. I also took it to be repaired at a marina. The mechanic at the marina said all she needed was a good carb cleaning (which my buddy already did) and charged me $104. Said they put it on the dyno and all was good. I'm at my wits with this. I am by no means a motorhead but I am mechanically inclined. Someone mentioned that it could be the coils. I am very willing to replace them and would like some of your advice on troubleshooting it. I know the iboats forums are a good place to go for guidance.
Thanks
